almost 3 weeks have
Almost 3 weeks have gone by since the holidays, and I realized how I'm such a city girl at heart. Does that make me sound shallow?
I do enjoy a little bit of countryside, the calmness (sometimes too calm, and it gets eerie) that surrounds it, the simplicity of it all... but I really think I wouldn't be able to function properly if I had to live there my entire life. I need the rustle and bustle of a big city, the rush we get into when we do every single thing, and just - sometimes, the all-around individualism. CITY GIRL, REPRESENT. (Again, sounds shallow, don't really care.)
This is not really the reason I'm writing. Met up with some friends of a friend recently, some of whom I've already gotten to know by chatting via MSN (oh dear), never having met them before. So, you can imagine how almost-awkward it was to finally meet them in person. Although they really were friendly and funny, I felt very much at ease. One of them was this guy with whom I've flirted back and forth, all in good fun. He was (still is) taken, and so am I (shut up yes, if I have to get all corny and shit, my heart is still taken~~). He's definitely had a very American upbringing, and he claims to flirt in the name of a good banter. There's never any real chemistry (because duh, we had never met), and again, I must stress, all in good fun.
Anyway, the point is, I remember he used to say how he liked my long neck, and very nonchalantly said how it turned him on. There was this one photo on Friendster (lawl oh dear), where I had my hair up, and the only comment he gave me was this: "...." When I asked him what was up, he said again, "Your neck. Mmmhmm." Needless to say, I was amused. And flattered, of course. When we met, we talked just like we did on MSN, and the conversation suddenly turned into dating.
GUY A: "I like geeky girls, the ones who read and shit, you don't really find a lot of them here in Jakarta. That's a shame."
GUY B: "Yeah, the ones who wear big glasses, and with long necks... Like hers *points at me*."
Again, I probably should have rolled my eyes, or maybe be offended? But I wasn't. I would be lying if I said I wasn't flattered. I also didn't think he had this hidden crush on me or something, he was just saying that matter-of-factually, and it was a harmless compliment. Which, you know, isn't something that you commonly get with most guys. So, thanks dude, almost two years later and that comment about long necks is still flattering. Definitely boosts up my confidence.
