ho, ho, ho!

Ho, ho, ho! It's the one day in a year when you can freely say the word 'ho' without sounding like a gigantic jerk. Merry Christmas to everyone! Jolly good times! Eat, drink and be merry!

I don't celebrate Christmas, myself, but I have always enjoyed the feel~ of it all. The Christmas lights, the songs, the movies, the clean white snow, the exchanging of gifts, the whole shebang. Of course I know there's more to Christmas than getting drunk and dancing in front of the Christmas tree, but that's not my forte, isn't it? Instead, let me count the ways to why this is my favourite holiday season.

1) THE FOOD. From 2004-2009, I have shared and celebrated Christmas with my roommate, who first started the tradition. We celebrated with our two other girlfriends, and we would all have a grand dinner. (... Okay fine, usually it's more like wine and some fattening snacks, okay? Leave me alone.) But seriously, one time we had quite a feast. My roommate cooked us something nice - and we would all gather in our PJs, sipping wine like a boss.

2) THE GIFTS. Since my roommate celebrates Christmas, we would all exchange gifts. All four of us. What's fun is each one of us would make a list of the things we want, and then the other three would buy the gift that fit their wallet the most, LOL. One time, I saw these gorgeous knee-high black boots with killer heels. I pointed right at them and said, "THAT'S what I want for Christmas. Just saying." And then, TAH-DAH. Christmas Day came and they're mine and yes, they look fabulous on me. Just saying.

3) THE SONGS AND MOVIES. From "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" to "All I Want For Christmas Is You" to "Santa Baby", I fucking love them all. It makes me think of a house covered in snow somewhere in the US (damn Hollywood for instilling that image of Christmas in my head), with everyone bundled up in front of the fireplace and Christmas tree, laughing as we be sippin' on our eggnogs. Good times. As for the movies, this is another tradition I picked up in Paris. Love Actually and Home Alone (the first one!) are my favourite go-to Christmas movies. It just never gets old watching them. I also like watching Roman Holiday with Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck. Bundled up in bed, drinking hot chocolate~ HEAVEN, I TELL YOU.

To wrap it all up, it's just the good fucking cheer of it all, man. Either you celebrate it or you don't. It's just too bad that in my country, every Christmas time has to be marred by honest-to-God IDIOTS who ruin churches/Christmas trees/what have you, claiming it's in the name of Allah. Nonsense. It makes me sick. Those so-called Islamists can go to hell. Even Prophet Muhammad SAW said himself, that under no circumstance is a house of worship to be destroyed on their holy day. Ugh, one time I read that a group of Christians formed a protective circle around a group of Moslems who are doing their Dzuhur prayer. That warms my heart. Even during Eid ul-Fitr, they let us celebrate in peace. Why can't those stupid fools just shut their mouths and be honorable enough in turn, and pass on the fucking cheer?!

Ahem. Got off on a rant there. But I get really pissed every time I think of how unfair it is. Call me ignorant, maybe there are some things I don't know about my own religion. But one thing is for sure, the Islam I believe in never teaches about hate.

*goes to watch Love Actually and swoon over Colin Firth and Hugh Grant's dancing butt* MERRY CHRISTMAS!
